Today I attended a 'women in business' breakfast and was in awe of how many things most of the women in the room had done before 8am. I resonated with a lot that they had to say, more than that, I was inspired. After this breakfast; I attended a mother's-day event at my children's school. The children had prepared poems for their mums. I was again surrounded by women, in a different setting; this time learning about them from their 7-8 year olds.
What was most touching was that the poems were original, I wrote a list of the common key words that the kids shared about the mums:
"I love my mum because she tries her best to make sure we have money"
"My mum keeps us safe"
"she cooks the best dinners"
"She smells nice"
"She gives the best hugs"
"She is beautiful"
"She takes care of the family"
"She tries to make me happy always"
There were a few mums who couldn't make it; one of the poems said -
"Mum I know you had to work"
I left the school with a full heart; for the gratitude that was overflowing in the room from all the children from different homes, cultures and situations.
Whatever your occupation - working/travelling mum, stay at home mum, mumpreneur. Take a moment to say "well done", for all the roles you play in your children's lives daily! They see it & appreciate it!
